Author Guidelines

LSI TO PAY FOR MANUSCRIPTS
At its meeting on April 17, 2004, the LSI Board of Directors agreed to offer remuneration to authors
willing to have their original work published in the LSI Journal. Any submissions, which could
include articles, editorials, book reviews, etc. would have to be approved by a review committee.
This new policy will be reviewed after one year, and LSI is not committed to continuing it.
Following are the guidelines:
Lutheran Science Institute Journal Guidelines
1. Material submitted must reflect the position of the Lutheran Science Institute (Article II of the
LSI Constitution “Statement of Belief”), including our belief in the inerrancy of Scripture, a
young Earth, creation ex nihilo in six 24-hour days, and the special creation of the first humans,
Adam and Eve.
2. Material submitted must be written for the lay person.
3. It will be understood that any manuscripts submitted will be reviewed and approved by the
editor and review committee before they can be published.
4. The editor and review committee will have the authority to make minor changes in punctuation
and spelling if needed.
5. We will have the right to publish online, on our website, any article or editorial we accept for
publication.
6. Possible subjects for manuscripts include but are not limited to the following:
--Bible studies which examine portions of Scripture dealing with scientific topics;
--nature studies which might reflect the glory of the Creator;
--new research or thinking by creationist scholars;
--examination of current claims by evolutionist scientists;
--health articles;
--recent research in Biblical archeology;
--reviews of recent science books, tapes, DVD’s.
Preference will be given to manuscripts that cover topics not recently covered in the Journal.
Authors are encouraged to visit our website, http://www.lutheranscience.org and go to the
Journal index <http://www.lutheranscience.org/Journal-Index.html> section to see a listing of some of the articles
and editorials we have published in recent years.
7. Authors must carefully document any portion(s) of their work which is/are not originally
theirs.
8. Manuscripts will be returned if the author includes a self-addressed stamped envelope with the
manuscript.
9. Reimbursement: any article, Bible study, book review, editorial. etc. accepted for publication
will be reimbursed at the rate of 3 cents per word. A typical article in the Journal is about 1000-
1500 words, but shorter and longer manuscripts will certainly be considered. Long articles are
often published in two, three, or more segments.
If you are considering a submission of a manuscript, we thank you for your interest and wish you
God’s blessings on your work.
