Are Aliens Living Among Us?
Some scientists speculate alien micro-organisms could be here.
SUMMARY: For decades now scientists have been scanning the heavens,
looking and listening for sounds of alien life, without success. Should they
instead have been looking for it right here on earth?
Paul Davies believes alien micro-organisms could be hiding on earth. "How
do we know all life on earth descended from a single origin?" the Arizona State
U. physicist asked London's Royal Society last week. "We've just scratched the
surface of the microbial world."
The idea is not a new one, having been discussed in a 2007 Scientific
American article. Unusual organisms abound in the ocean--some bacteria
there eat chemicals while others thrive in boiling-hot springs. Proving though
that they are alien would be difficult, Davies admits. The only real proof would
be if an organism was using exotic elements no other form of life
on earth has. Such organisms have yet to be found.
Davies urged caution in pursuing the idea of alien life on earth, even though
he noted that less than 1 percent of the world's bacteria have been
comprehensively studied.
Meanwhile, Frank Drake, who conducted the first organized search for alien
radio signals in 1960, said the discovery of extraterrestrial life in outer space
appears to be more difficult than previously thought. But he said alien
societies in space could be using weaker signals, just as the switch from
analog to digital televisions has resulted in far weaker signals here on
earth. However, Drake said the scientists at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial
Intelligence) were excited about the possibility of sending into space
super-bright laser rays which could be seen up to 1,000 light years away.
COMMENT: What some people won't say to grab a headline! One will notice
that the biggest reasons for the belief that there may be alien micro-organisms
hiding somewhere here on earth seems to be that it is difficult to find them or
there are so many organisms that must be studied. Using the same logic,
it should be easy for prosecutors in a court case to convict a suspect on the
basis that it was difficult to find evidence against him or that the detectives had
too many clues to investigate.
There was one positive to this story--Paul Davies raising the possibility that
there could be more than one origin for the organisms on earth, a thought that
is heresy to traditional Darwinism. If he means there could be more than one
original ancestor for the various living beings on this planet, creationists will
agree, except to change "could be" to "definitely is."
So, are there such things as alien beings? The only beings not from this
planet which are known to exist are God Himself and the angels (including the
fallen angels). Thank God that His good angels are with us to serve us
as God sees fit. These "aliens" will be a wonderful sight to see with our very
own eyes when we get to heaven. It will be a wonderful sight to all who repent
of their sins and come to faith in Jesus as their Savior.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
Are aerosols and foggers which are advertised to kill flu-causing
germs floating in the air really effective?

The Environmental Protection Agency
has not registered or approved any of
these sprays. Some of the aerosols
and foggers are completely bogus and
do little to stop the spread of germs.
Even if the sprays did work, the moment
somebody walked into the room, the air
would again become contaminated?
